Louvre - Islam Arts department
Paris
Design and construction of a department dedicated to Islamic Art from the 11th to the 19th century within the Louvre Museum, in the Cour Visconti.
The architectural concept by Mario Bellini and Rudy Ricciotti is based on the idea of a glass veil or carpet that delicately rests upon the courtyard without touching the existing facades.
The transparent structural glass facades seamlessly blend in, preserving the unobstructed view and allowing the existing facades to remain intact.
